The woman stands in front of homes destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. They are part of her. She can't forget, but she can keep living. She has to. She must RISE, RENEW & REBUILD.

There are two NEW ORLEANS style shotgun homes behind her with the National Guard "X" on them. The "X"s were used in the days after the storm to identify if there were bodies found in the homes or not.

Also has an acrylic gloss over the canvas.

Shotguns are a type of popular New Orleans homes. They got their names from the ability to fire a shotgun through the front door and the bullets would go through the house and out the back door because these types of homes do not have hallways.

An homage to Eleanor of Aquitaine (1137-1204), one of the most powerful women in the Western world during the Middle Ages. She was a Queen of both England and France.

She caused quite the ruckus during her reign. She was beautiful, manipulative, and intelligent.
