I was inspired to create this series after President Trump signed an executive order on January 27, 2017, that banned foreign nationals from seven predominately Muslim countries from entering the United States. President Trump’s xenophobic and Islamophobic policies have hurt our country. I was hoping my artwork inspired by my own Jewish ancestor’s brave journey to the United States for a better life would show how the U.S. keeps vilifying immigrants even though this a country made up of descendants of immigrants.
